Update: I am on a forced hiatus

Sometimes there is no winning. This is one of those times.

I was looking forward to telling you I would be back to publishing next Monday but Murphy had a different idea. You know, Murphey’s Law, the one that says if anything can go wrong it will. Just as the sprain to my Achilles tendon was nearly healed, this morning I managed to sprain two toes in saving myself from a tumble. Once again, I can barely walk, so I have to hold off publishing a while longer.

My thanks to all the well-wishers. Intrepid Report will return as soon as I can get back to editing.

I am dealing with a sprained Achilles tendon that occurred nearly a week ago. It’s one of the most painful injuries I have ever had. It makes walking difficult and swelling caused my leg to double in size.

Luckily, it appears I have not torn the tendon. So the doc advised me to stay off my feet and the more I can keep the leg elevated, the faster it will heal. Aleve helps minimize the pain.

This is why I haven’t been publishing Intrepid Report this week and I may not be able to publish next week. However, Intrepid Report will be back.

  1. Looking forward to the re-start of Intrepid Report … While it sucks to have sprained two toes just as the sprain from the Achilles tendon was nearly healed, I am thankful that you avoided a stumble which could have been more … complicated than the two sprained toes, which, while it sucks as I said above, there might be some light in the silver lining, and since they say that “studies indicate that those who receive get well cards have an 80% faster recovery rate ….” here is my “get well card for you:

At 76 I am in fear of falls, I do so frequently these days, but prevent a lot of them by trying to stay aware. I’m glad you were able to break your fall, women so often get the hip injuries that don’t happen often to men. My closest female friend now has an artificial hip joint so, for obvious reasons, is in fear of falling. Unfortunately we don’t heal as rapidly as we get older (even though of course, you’re only 29!).

  4. Still thinking about you. Thought this would bring a smile …

I hope you don’t mind my putting it in here.

  5. Bev, I care and am worried about you. Please give us all an update. Miss you and wish you well.

If you are getting a second flu shot be wary of post shot dizziness which could promote a fall.

  7. Late last night we had a little rain storm around here …
This morning I saw this, I liked it and it brought a smile to my face.
I hope you like it too and it brings a smile to you as you read good books during your ankle/toe healing adventure.
