OFAC: Obama’s global ‘collection agency’

(WMR)—No longer content with freezing and seizing the assets of dictators, the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), under Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew, is now busy seizing the assets of democratically-elected leaders around the world.

Those who have been subject to asset seizures include former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, ousted by a coalition of neo-Nazi and globalist pro-World Bank politicians in February, and Crimean Autonomous Republic Chairman of the Council of Ministers Sergey Aksyonov, elected as a deputy of the Supreme Council of Crimea in 2011 as a member of the Russian Unity Party. Also on the asset seizure list is Vladimir Konstantinov, the elected speaker of the Crimean parliament.

Yanukovych was elected president of Ukraine in February 2010 with 48.95 percent of the vote in a second-round run-off election.

In addition to the Ukrainian and Crimean leaders, OFAC has also frozen the assets of elected members of the Russian State Duma. These include Aleksei Pushkov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs and elected in 2011, as well as members of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s administration. Putin was elected president of Russia in 2012 with 63.6 percent of the vote.

However, like modern-day Shylocks, the OFAC collection agents are busy grabbing up the assets of democratically-elected leaders who have incurred the wrath of the “Responsibility to Protect” enforcers of the Obama administration. All it takes is for National Security Adviser Susan Rice, UN ambassador Samantha Power, and the bread-distributing neocon viceroy for Ukraine, Victoria Nuland, to finger an elected target of opportunity, and Lew, Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David Cohen, and OFAC chief Adam Szubin begin to identify foreign bank accounts and financial holdings for freezing and ultimate seizure.

Shortly after his fellow pro-Western apparatchiks and neo-Nazis seized power in Kiev, acting Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, a friend of Nuland and U.S. Ambassador to Kiev Geoffrey Pyatt, arranged for 40 sealed crates containing Ukraine’s gold reserves, much of it priceless Scythian art objects, to be shipped to the United States for “safekeeping” under the aegis of the Treasury Department.

After having identified, frozen, and seized the assets of Crimean, Ukrainian, and Russian elected leaders, the OFAC is now eagerly awaiting an expected kangaroo court indictment of former Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shimawatra, the sister of exiled former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who currently lives in Dubai.

Yingluck, who, like her brother, championed the causes of Thailand’s poor rural class, especially those who live in the country’s north, ran afoul of the royalists, business elite, and senior military officers who dominate Bangkok. The “Red Shirt” movement of Thailand’s poor rural population, helped elect Yingluck in 2011. In 2006, Thaksin’s government was swept from power in a military coup supported by the CIA.

However, the Obama administration, which has adopted a policy of overthrowing democratically-elected leaders through contrivances such the Honduran Supreme Court that ousted President Manuel Zelaya in 2009, the Paraguayan Congress that overthrew President Fernando Lugo in 2013, and a rump faction of the Ukrainian parliament or “Rada” that ousted Yanukovych this past February, quietly encouraged Thailand’s Constitutional Court to oust Yingluck.

The reason Obama avoided Thailand but included Malaysia and the Philippines on his recent swing through Southeast Asia is that Yingluck was having nothing to do with Obama’s much-ballyhooed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) unless there were guarantees to protect Thailand’s farmers. In fact, the Thai court’s decision to oust Yingluck was motivated by unsubstantiated charges, all of which were politically-motivated, that graft and corruption were at the heart of rice subsidies paid to Thai farmers. Under the TPP, such farmer subsidies would be verboten.

As with Ukraine’s rushed elections of May 25 that seek to legitimize the U.S. and CIA-imposed regime in Kiev, Thailand has elections scheduled for July 20. These elections will also seek to put a stamp of approval, albeit a dubious one, on the legitimacy of the next government, one that can be expected to embrace the TPP, Obama, military cooperation with the United States, and the expanding American cordon sanitaire being thrown up around China.

With a National Anti-Corruption Committee packed with enemies of Yingluck and Thaksin now talking about criminal indictments against Yingluck, Thaksin, and even the caretaker Prime Minister Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisan and other ministers of the Yingluck administration, count on the hand-wringing and fang-baring vampires of the OFAC to start investigating the financial holdings of the Shinawatra family and their political allies.

With the ouster of the “2Ys,” Yanukovych and Yingluck. the New World Order majordomos and acolytes of the Obama administration are casting around for other victims. The Obama interventionists and nation destroyers now smell blood, and the potential to seize more foreign assets, in Latin America. Oil-rich Venezuela and Ecuador serve as ripe potential feeding grounds for the vipers of OFAC.
