Co-chair of 9/11 Commission backtracks on skepticism

(WMR)—Former 9/11 Commission Co-chair Lee Hamilton, a one-time chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, backtracked on his previously-pronounced skepticism about the fabrications and evasion faced by his commission in pursuit of the truth about the 9/11 attack.

Hamilton and his co-chair, former New Jersey Governor Tom Kean, were speaking at a July 22 event marking the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 Commission report in 2004. The commemorative event was held at the Newseum in Washington, DC. The co-chairs were joined by the other commission members in issuing a new report on 9/11 that reiterated the need for more vigilance and intelligence of the growing terrorist “threat.” In their report, Kean and Hamilton warned against growing “counterterrorism fatigue” among the American public.

In his remarks, Hamilton returned to his original stance that leveled criticism at those who believe there was a major conspiracy involving the U.S. and/or other governments in the 9/11 attack. Hamilton went out of his way to mention the fact that a few thousand “conspiracy theorists” actually attended a conference dedicated to 9/11 conspiracy theories in Los Angeles in 2006.

Hamilton’s comments marked a major change in course after he joined Kean in 2006 in criticizing the stonewalling experienced by the commission. 2006 marked the same year the “conspiracy theorists” met in Los Angeles. Hamilton and Kean complained that the Pentagon and CIA misled them and their fellow commissioners to the point that they considered referring a criminal complaint to the Department of Justice. Kean and Hamilton said they believed that U.S. government officials lied to them under oath and, therefore, committed perjury.

Kean said, “We to this day don’t know why NORAD [the North American Aerospace Command] told us what they told us . . . was just so far from the truth. . . . It’s one of those loose ends that never got tied.” Hamilton concurred and said I don’t believe for a minute we got everything right” and that the commission was set up to fail. Hamilton said that people should keep asking questions about 9/11 and the 9/11 debate should continue.

Original commission member, former Senator Max Cleland of Georgia, told this editor the same thing in 2009. He said that “we need subsequent commissions” to look into what occurred on September 11, 2001. Cleland resigned from the commission in protest over the obfuscation and lying by the Bush administration.

Cleland recalled that he held up before the 9/11 Commission a copy of “Forbidden Truth,” a book first written in France, which exposed pre-9/11 oil pipeline politics in Afghanistan and the role of the Saudi government in planning and carrying out the attack. This editor wrote the introduction to “Forbidden Truth.” Former Senator Bob Kerrey of Nebraska joined Cleland in denouncing the cover-up faced by the commission and said that its members and investigators were denied access to certain classified information.

In any event, Hamilton seems to have gotten back on board the official theory bandwagon after he received his warning a few years ago. On August 11, 2012, a month from the anniversary of the 9/11 attack, Hamilton’s wife Nancy was killed when her own vehicle ran her over in the parking lot of a veterinarian’s office in Bloomington, Indiana.

On August 14, 2012, WMR reported: “Mrs. Hamilton, according to Bloomington Police, did not have her vehicle’s transmission in park when she exited the car around 4:15 pm to retrieve her pet from the back. When Hamilton went behind the vehicle, a late model Toyota Camry, the car backed up and ran her over. The Monroe County medical examiner reported that Mrs. Hamilton died from massive blunt force to her chest and head. The police said the car knocked over Mrs. Hamilton and then proceeded to roll over her. Mrs. Hamilton was transported from the incident scene on the 4500 block of East Third Street and she died hours later at IU Health-Bloomington Hospital.

It is unusual that the police waited two days to report the seemingly bizarre incident involving Mrs. Hamilton and her death, which was ultimately ruled an accident.

Although for over a decade, drivers have not been able to remove the key from the ignition unless the transmission was in park, Mrs. Hamilton exited the vehicle, walked behind it to retrieve her pet from the back, and the vehicle went into reverse and ran her over. The Bloomington police have made it clear that they consider the case closed . . . Friends of Mrs. Hamilton revealed that despite her 82 years of age, she maintained all her mental faculties, with one stating Mrs. Hamilton was ‘sharp as a tack.’”

A spate of similarly-worded messages posted on online forums and chat rooms, stating that Mrs. Hamilton “got what she deserved” under Obamacare, appeared to have been automatically-generated from government “sock puppet” software used heavily by the intelligence services and military.

There are powerful people responsible for 9/11 who will kill in order to keep certain secrets from leaking out. Lee Hamilton has clearly gotten the message.
