Nightmares I’ve had

Recently, I keep dreaming about a self-perpetuating war in Palestine’s Gaza by Hamas tossing rockets at the Israelis, who in turn have an “Iron Dome” which triggers explosive responses.

You may have heard of the Iron Dome in the news lately. This groundbreaking anti-missile system has saved countless Israeli civilian lives from groups such as Hamas. But, did you know that Technion-Israel Institute of Technology graduates played a major role in its development? Here are some facts concerning the Iron Dome and its effectiveness.

Iron Dome is a sophisticated defensive system

Iron Dome identifies aerial threats—mainly rockets—and eliminates them. It is, essentially, an anti-missile missile system. Iron Dome was first conceived of in 2004. During this time, the Israel Ministry of Defense issued a call for proposals for a system to intercept short-range rockets.

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems’ Iron Dome, capable of operating in all weather conditions, was selected as the most suitable. Iron Dome was developed by a team of Technion graduates. Eighty percent of the engineers at Rafael are Technion graduates.

Its CEO has said that the Iron Dome could not have been built without those former Technion students. Iron Dome has been somewhat during the current conflict. The system has already intercepted and destroyed more than 350 Hamas missiles.

That Dome is one of the nightmares I’ve had, the automatic death machine that kicks in after a “purported shower of rockets by Hamas” has been sent out, rockets that have been made by members of Hamas. So in some way, the comparatively primitive rockets triggered by Hamas causes an inordinate numbing of Palestinians, i.e, men, women children, babies, and those attempting to protect them and keep them alive in harm’s way.

The worse part of my nightmare is when this happens and 1,700 Palestinians die, and, say, only 66 Israelis die. Do the appalling math. That’s nearly 30 times the deaths. This gives Netanyahu the perfect premise for that kind of overkill he has long dreamed of, along with his U.S. backers and AIPAC hypocritically criticizing the Palestinian people for fighting back, in order to hold onto their country. The Dome triggers advanced rockets, high-powered jets and artillery and a merciless, self-perpetuating kill machine for Israel. It leaves in its wake a ruin of Gaza and Palestine itself.

But then Israel and its Zionists have had this impetus since 1948, 66 years, when they first decided they didn’t want half a country. They wanted one, Palestine, and proceeded with The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, that Orthodox Jewish Historian Ilan Pappe describes. He writes “that the War of Independence involved one of the largest forced migrations in modern history. Around a million people were expelled from their homes at gunpoint, civilians were massacred, and hundreds of Palestinian villages destroyed.” It could only be called an Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, to this very same day.

But then we must consider that Israel built its first nuclear reactor, another nightmare, at Dimona in the Negev desert. What were they thinking then but another nightmare? Today, that leaky reactor poses a danger just by its being. It was exposed in the London Times in1986 by a religious Jewish technician, Mordechai Vanunu, who has lingered on and off in solitary in prison and now house arrest since then.

But the ongoing nightmare is designed to run on its own momentum. I see these babies bleeding, children screaming for their parents, their parents literally shredding their hair, running through the blasted rock strewn streets to some cover in a half standing “hospital,” the other half destroyed. This horrific living nightmare repeats itself. Zionists debate on Russia Today with pride in their response to the Dome. One editorial’s headline read, Holocaust is Okay if it’s Gaza. It was removed quickly. Yet the thought will be embedded in the minds of many Jewish Americans, young people and older, and especially in AIPAC’s warped mind, which dreams of another people’s extinction as the awful tallies of dead Palestinians and self-satisfied Israelis. I wake from this nightmare fearing. Mind you, I don’t hate Jewish people en masse. I have family members with some Jewish extraction whom I love.

Yet I could never express my nightmares to them and their purveyors, let alone their Samson Option that states “Israel would launch a massive nuclear retaliatory strike if the state itself was being overrun, just as the Biblical figure, Samson is said to have pushed apart the pillars of a Philistine temple, bringing down the roof and killing himself and thousand of Philistine who had gather to see him humiliated. How’s that for horror, the ultimate bad dream, nightmare of nightmares. My last words are “wake up, Israel.” This latest Holocaust will come back to haunt your forever. There will be no waking from it in a sweat, clutching the white sheet of innocence and death.
