Propaganda Central (aka TSA Blog) trumpets award

Oscar season may be upon us, when movies, actors, actresses, directors, etc. get recognized for their achievements, but never let it be said that our hardworking civil servants, who do so much to Keep Us Safe, go unnoticed.

Indeed, we here take the time to salute them, as neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these gropers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

We’ve often referred readers to Propaganda Centra, a.k.a. the government’s TSA Blog, where PR representatives tout the glories of the Transportation Security Administration. Ordinary schmos like you and me can leave comments there (except when we can’t) and often point out the TSA’s inconsistencies, euphemisms, pointless policies, and outright lies.

But lo and behold, the TSA Blog has won an award! The Bronze Anvil Award, which, we’re told, “celebrates the best of the best in public relations tactics” and “your anvil reflects your team’s success.” The little Bronze Anvil log is proudly displayed on the TSA Blog’s site. (There’s also a Silver Anvil Award, which I assume is higher, though as of this writing no Gold Anvil in sight.)

You can even order a little statuette to display on your desk! For only $150. Well, hey, considering the $8 billion we pay for the TSA every year, I’d say that’s a bargain.

So go on over to the TSA Blog and show them some love! (I already left two comments this morning; wonder if they’ll show up.)
