The lead up to war

On Friday morning, I turned my TV on and, lo and behold, on MSNBC, they were talking about Jeff Sessions and his treasonous act of actually talking to Russian officials. So, at 8 am I switched to the alternative news, Amy Goodman and Democracy Now!, and predictably found that her “alternative” news reporting was also focused on Jeff Sessions and how he might have conspired with the Russians to ensure Donald Trump’s victory as president of the United States.

Goodman offered no voices to challenge the assumption that the Russians were involved in the hacking of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) computers or their meetings and conversations with Sessions and Michael Flynn constituted a threat to national security.

During Trump’s campaign, he allowed for the possibility that, as president, he would be willing to sit down with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and discuss working together with Russia in the war on terror, a war declared by George W. Bush.

The response of the Hillary Clinton campaign as well as the Democratic Party was overwhelmingly critical. They practically accused Trump of treason.

But, like any worthwhile theatrical production, this story did not end there. When Donald Trump surprisingly won the presidency, the Democrats yelled “fire,” accusing the Russians of hacking into the Democratic National Committee’s computer files and revealing negative data about Hillary Clinton’s campaign . . . data which revealed that Clinton and the DNC establishment took actions to sabotage Bernie Sander’s campaign for the Democratic nomination.

While the Democrats were busy drumming up rage and resentment toward Russia for the assumed hacking, for which they have never produced evidence verifying that accusation, everyone ignored the criminal behavior of the Democrats in their attempts to prevent Sanders from winning the nomination.

Even today, despite the lack of evidence, the political pundits being interviewed on TV and radio refer to the hacking as unquestionably real and true. This anti-Russian theme continues to prevail today.

Not only are the crimes of Hillary Clinton and the DNC ignored but also is the information revealed early on that it was not Russian hacking but a discontented and angry DNC insider who leaked the data in question.

On February 14, 2017, newly appointed National Security Advisor Michael Flynn resigned. At issue was Flynn’s contact with Moscow’s ambassador to the United States. Flynn and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak appear to have discussed U.S. sanctions late last year. Flynn later admitted he had several phone conversations with the Russian ambassador to the US during the transition period while Trump was assuming the presidency.

The latest hysteria regarding Russia is around the newly appointed attorney general, Jeff Sessions, who is accused of meeting twice with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak last year while still serving as a senator but did not disclose that during his Senate confirmation hearing in January.

Isn’t it amazing that Sessions’ history as a racist and Ku Klux Klan sympathizer did not prevent the Senate from confirming Sessions as attorney general but his conversations with the Russian ambassador is creating all sorts of hysteria? Only in Amerika.

From Russia’s point of view, the turmoil swirling around the Trump administration and its contacts with Russian officials is a “witch hunt” fueled by “fake news” instigated by leading Democrats looking to distract attention from their election defeat and carried out by their lapdogs in the U.S. media. (David Filipov, Washington Post).

At the end of September 2015, Russia, at the request of Assad’s Syrian government, joined forces with the Syrian army in the fight against terrorist forces (ISIS, al-Qaeda) operating in Syria. The Russians quickly and successfully located and destroyed terrorist strongholds and within a short period of time had the terrorists withdrawing from several locations in Syria.

Russia also put an end to the ability of ISIS to finance its operations by transporting and selling Syrian oil to European countries. Russia was able to locate and destroy the oil tankers while they were transporting the oil to Turkey.

Being naive, I have asked myself why the Russians had such great success in so short a time while the US and NATO seemed so impotent for over two years?

The rapid success of the Russian air force was an embarrassment to the US and NATO that had spent over two impotent years unable to have any impact on the terrorists. In fact, the entrance of Russia into the Syrian war, exposed the true efforts of the US in that country. The US was not involved in the war on terror, it was involved in the overthrow of the Assad government. And, to that end, it was willing to support, finance, and arm the terrorist groups.

On several occasions, President Putin asked the US to work cooperatively with Russia in the fight against terrorism. The US refused. Since then, the anti-Russia project in the US has escalated. We have reached that point where US officials who would talk to Russian officials are attacked, ridiculed and accused of compromising national security as well as national integrity.

We must never lose sight of the fact that the end goal of the US is world domination, not cooperation. The Project for a New American Century (PNAC), a document written in 1997, spells it all out. Only Iran, Russia, and China stand in the way of US domination.

It is no coincidence that the US has emphasized the Russian threat to our security and has, with NATO cooperation, surrounded Russia with thousands of troops, along with tanks and missiles, as well as battleships in the Black Sea. It is no coincidence that the US played a key role in the overthrow of a democratically elected government in the Ukraine and installed instead a government hostile to Russia. It is no coincidence that this administration has threatened Iran and illegally boarded one of its ships, searching the cargo. It is no coincidence that this administration has challenged China’s control of the China Sea.

It appears that the US is willing to gamble on a nuclear war. Millions of people may die but “our” guys evidently think they could win it.

Point of information: The tone of this article may appear to be in support of Trump and the crooks with whom he has surrounded himself. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am not a Trump supporter. Rather, I am exposing the dangerous road the Democrats are taking us on, one that is their attempt to compensate for and recover from Hillary’s embarrassing loss, but one that may lead to war with Russia. They are playing a dangerous game.

GOD BLESS AMERIKA!
