Rallying the people

On October 20, 2011, Muammar Gaddafi, the head of the Libyan government, was killed by US and French sponsored “rebels.”

Gaddafi was portrayed as a dictator and tyrant by the US, a man who abused and violently oppressed the Libyan people. This was the official narrative, a theme that justified the US supported “rebels” overthrow of his government and his eventual torture and execution.

The overthrow and execution of Gaddafi caused much joy for US officials. Hillary Clinton gleefully stated publicly, with a big smile, “We came, we saw, he died.” Nowhere was it revealed that before his death, Gaddafi was tortured by “our” rebels who thought that shoving a saber up his rectum was enjoyable sport. This is but one example of who it is the US supports.

But, who is this so-called monster, Muammar Gaddafi? Let us take a look at what benefits were provided the people of Libya by this “tyrant.”

1. In Libya a home is considered a natural human right.

In Gaddafi’s Green Book it states: ”The house is a basic need of both the individual and the family, therefore it should not be owned by others.” Gaddafi’s Green Book is the former leader’s political philosophy.

2. Education and medical treatment were all free. Under Gaddafi, Libya could boast one of the best healthcare services in the Middle East and Africa. Also if a Libyan citizen could not access the desired educational course or correct medical treatment in Libya they were funded to go abroad.

3. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project in the world also known as the great manmade river. It was designed to make water readily available to all Libyan’s across the entire country. It was funded by the Gaddafi government.

4. It was free to start a farming business. If any Libyan wanted to start a farm they were given a house, farm land and live stock and seeds all free of charge.

5. A bursary was given to mothers with newborn babies.

When a Libyan woman gave birth she was given 5000 (US dollars) for herself and the child.

6. Electricity was free in Libya meaning absolutely no electric bills.

7. Cheap petrol. During Gaddafi’s reign the price of petrol in Libya was as low as 0.14 (US dollars) per litre.

8. Gaddafi raised the level of education. Before Gaddafi only 25% of Libyans were literate. This figure was brought up to 87% with 25% earning university degrees.

9. Libya had its own State bank, which provided loans to citizens at zero percent interest by law and they had no external debt.

10. Before his death, Gaddafi wanted to introduce a single African currency linked to gold. Gaddafi wanted to introduce and only trade in the African gold Dinar. The Dinar was widely opposed by the ‘elite’ of today’s Western societies. African nations would have finally had the power to bring itself out of debt and poverty and only trade in this precious commodity. They would have been able to finally say ‘no’ to external exploitation and charge whatever they felt suitable for precious resources.

I don’t know about you, but I’m having a difficult time seeing this man as a “tyrant.” If we’re looking for tyrants, I would suggest looking in our own backyard . . . Trump. Clinton, Obama, Bush, Cheney, etc. The Libyan people seemed to have more benefits under Gaddafi’s leadership than we, in the US, have under our “democratically elected” leaders.

Let us look at some realities . . . focus on item #10. Does anyone really think that the capitalists/imperialists, who have been exploiting African nations, their people, and their valuable natural resources for centuries, would allow this man to free the African people from the economic, political, and social control of the West?

In an article in Global Research by Sheep Media, on June 13, 2017, it is revealed that “One of the 3,000 Hillary Clinton emails released by the State Department on New Year’s Eve, has revealed evidence that NATO’s plot to overthrow Gaddafi was fueled by first their desire to quash the gold-backed African currency, and second the Libyan oil reserves.”

The email in question also reveals that French President Nicholas Sarkozy was particularly interested in Gaddafi’s overthrow in order to obtain Libyan oil, ensure French influence in the region, assert French military power, and to prevent Gaddafi’s influence in Africa.

Gaddafi had warned Europe in a phone conversations with England’s Prime Minister Blair that his fall would prompt the rise of Islamic extremism in the West. A warning that would go unheeded; what’s a few lives in France and Libya, if the larger goal lines the pockets of politicians and the elite so much better after all?

So, let us be clear . . . Gaddafi was not a threat to the Libyan people whom the West had to protect, he was a threat to the capitalist elite whom the West had to protect.

Demonizing world leaders who do not genuflect to US/NATO agendas is part of the continuous script that gets played out over and over again because it works. Much of its success depends on the cooperation of the media that trumpet the party line continuously until fantasy and lies become realities and truth.

The current targets of this political theater are Syria’s Bashar al Assad and Russia’s Vladimir Putin. Both men have continuously been demonized by the US government and media despite the fact that they both remain popular with the people of their own countries.

The question for me has been, why does the US government insist on removing Assad from office?

Assad is an independent nationalist leader that has rejected US influence in his country while maintaining close ties with Russia and Iran. Let us not be remiss and exclude Iran from the equation. It also continues to get bad press in the West and serves as a balance of power to Israel. Clearly, the US and Israel will not tolerate this. Assad has refused to step down from office and has defied US efforts to remove him.

Putin, on the other hand, represents a country that may be the only one strong enough to cause hesitation in the US’s march to hegemony. In the ‘50s, it was the fight against Communism. Today, with Russia as a capitalist state, it is the fight for world dominance, a fight that Russia does not appear to have any interest in.

The US claims its motives are humanitarian . . . to save the people in the world from dictators and tyrants. To do so, the US has been the primary cause of the deaths of millions of people, the destruction of their homes and countries and the flight of people to other countries seeking safety. In other words, the US is on a mission to save people by killing and causing misery and suffering to tens of thousands of them. Like in WW2, when the US dropped atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing hundreds of thousands while claiming this was done in order to save people from dying in battle. Or, in Vietnam when the US killed over a million people to defend them from Communism.

Are we really humanitarian heroes saving the world? NO!!! WE ARE NOT FIGHTING AN ENEMY, THE ENEMY IS US.

One Response to Rallying the people

  1. Just like there are many here who praise anad have praised Fidel Castro and his brother Raul in Cuba for their dictatorship that people here view as a benefit to the Cuban people, while, many of the Cuban people inside Cuba view them as oppressors of the people: I have to wonder, in this praise of/for Muammar Gaddafi: How did/do the Syrian people really feel?
