Big Pharma is Murder, Inc.

Thousands of people have died from taking Big Pharma’s products as directed, with Big Pharma executives aware that their products caused sickness and death.

It seems we have a new scandal on this every few years, but no executive ever goes to prison for it, no matter how many they murder.

Beyond this, more thousands die because they can’t afford the exorbitant prices Big Pharma demands for their products as Americans pay the highest prices on earth.

Further, millions are put at risk because Big Pharma is in charge of making vaccines and does not make enough to account for an epidemic. The next time it happens that there is a massive killer flu, no telling how many will die because Big Pharma has not made enough vaccine, their interest being in not wasting a dime to maximize their gains.

In other words, they are not into health care, but see their job as making profit at any cost to actual health care.

I believe the government should run all health care, the capitalists have shown they cannot efficiently manage it for the benefit of the public interest.

America’s for profit health care costs more than any other health care system per person, and it provides substandard health care, particularly to the poor and working class. It is the most bureaucratic system on earth, with more paperwork than any other health care system, mostly paperwork accounting for costs (again, primarily concerned about their bottom line).

American’s do not find out about any of this from their TV news—it is controlled by Big Pharma, which spends millions of dollars on commercials that it runs during the network news programs each night. In return one does not learn about natural healing techniques from their TV news, nor get adequate warnings about many of Big Pharma’s pills that kill.

My medical doctor friends have advised me about reasons that Big Pharma’s products are dangerous. One is that your body doesn’t know what it is getting, and guesses about how to react to a Big Pharma product. Big Pharma often steals an idea from nature, having found a plant which produces a medicine that treats a medical condition. But since it’s natural, Big Pharma may not be able to patent it, so they change a molecule to make it something that doesn’t exist in nature. Since, in billions of years of life on earth, no organism has ever experienced this chemical formula, no living creature, including humans, can likely properly digest the Big Pharma product. It may simply get stuck in your liver, which has no idea how to break it down. Your body might mistake it for a hormone and store it in fatty tissue. In time it may cause cancer.

Throughout the history of Big Pharma, it has been discovered, again and again, that their products cause cancer, heart disease, or other serious problems leading to death. It has also been discovered that Big Pharma often knew its products caused death, but did nothing about it because they were making billions of dollars from such products. They don’t care if they kill you—the system protects them from justice.

No executive ever goes to prison for murder. The Food and Drug Administration is corrupt, nearly always headed by someone who came from Big Pharma and contributed to the successful presidential campaign (Democrat or Republican). The job of the FDA executives is to cover up for big business at any cost to the public interest.

Priorities for Big Pharma are executive pay and profits. Big Pharma’s executives get 8 figure salaries as America’s elderly go without food to buy pills that keep them alive.

Big Pharma profits are over $100 billion annually, even as the cost of their products increase for the greed of the descendants of robber baron investors as people die because they cannot afford them.

When progressives discuss having a national health program, we must not forget to include pharmaceuticals. In a just world, with a justice system actually based on justice, Big Pharma’s executives would clearly be in prison—charged with first degree murder, because they know they are killing people.

Jack Balkwill has been published from the little read Rectangle, magazine of the English Honor Society, to the (then) millions of readers USA Today and many progressive publications/web sites such as Z Magazine, In These Times, Counterpunch, This Can’t Be Happening, Intrepid Report, and Dissident Voice. He is author of “An Attack on the National Security State,” about peace activists in prison.
