Trump’s crime du jour: election tampering

In the last 16 days of Donald Trump’s occupancy of the White House, what does he have to do that finally brings about his immediate removal? Shoot someone on Pennsylvania Avenue? Lob a nuke at Iran?

So far, his lies, his conflicts of interest, his incitement of his supporters to violence, encouraging sedition, his violations of his oath of office, and now his attempt to extort Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger into committing multiple crimes in overthrowing the presidential election results haven’t been enough to get him removed from office.

Has it finally become bad enough that Mike Pence would invoke the 25th Amendment? We can live with Pence as acting president for a couple weeks, until Joe Biden is inaugurated. However, don’t hold your breath on that happening unless Trump has a total mental breakdown and is carted out on a stretcher.

The Republicans are the most responsible for this nightmare, especially those now planning to throw a spanner into Wednesday’s opening of the electoral votes to certify Biden’s win of the presidency. While the Democrats aren’t much, the Democratic majority on the House did impeach Trump but the Republican controlled Senate refused to convict him, which would have brought about Trump’s immediate removal from office.

Do you hear a majority of congressional Republicans clamoring for Trump’s resignation or arrest?

Sixteen days to go and for Trump to commit more crimes…

Tomorrow is the Georgia senatorial runoff elections. With any luck, Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock will win, ending the evil Mitch McConnell as majority leader of the Senate. If McConnell doesn’t go, Biden will be hamstrung in getting anything done and overturning Trump’s damage.

By the way, happy New Year!

One Response to Trump’s crime du jour: election tampering

  1. Since I couldn’t sleep anymore this morning I got up and came to the computer hoping to read how they were hauling trump out of the white house.
There was not a peep from the Republicans having anything to say about trump or trump’s attempted extortion of Raffensberger into giving trump a win, or being disgusted by his attempted extortion to overturn the election, or any push to condemn him or be up in arms (figuratively) to have him carted out of the white house.
Radio Silence? Radio Silence? Radio Silence? was there as I went from one site to another.
“I hope Bev Conover says something,” I thought.
    And Yes!
    You have!
And like always I find it insightful, full of light and to the point.
But, I can’t make up my mind whether there is a tinge of irony in the last line or not. O:-)
