Nanny mayor: NYC was next On Boston Bombing suspects’ list

Nanny Mayor Bloomberg and NYC Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told reporters at City Hall that the alleged suspects behind the Boston Marathon bombings were also planning to attack New York. Well, the Tsarnaevs bombed in Boston. Next shot, I guess, was to “party in New York,” that is, Times Square, the heart of the political theatre district. Strangely, both the mayor and commissioner’s noses seem to get longer as they spoke.

Why? This is totally reminiscent of the Faisal Shashad car-bombing attempt on West 45 St. in 2010. Unfortunately that street is one of the most populated in the area, and Shashad locked himself out of his Nissan Pathfinder SUV, duh. It contained a homemade array of explosives and alarm clock to set them off. Fortunately, there was no blasting cap and the Pathfinder produced a lot of smoke but no fire. Faisal was caught at JFK boarding a plane to Pakistan where his family lived. He was on the no-fly list.

Yet, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said that Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, had a pressure cooker bomb and five pipe bombs they wanted to set off in Times Square. That’s quite a menu and a trifle hard to swallow unless you’re smacked over the head hard with a rubber pipe a number of times.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation says the younger brother spontaneously planned the New York attack in the days following the marathon bombings. Well, Dzhokhar, it seems, had quite a bit on his plate.

Officials say the decision came after the killing of MIT security officer Sean Collier and before the suspects had a shootout with police in Watertown, Mass., where Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed and Dzhokar ended up being found in a boat, under a tarp soaked with his blood, parked in the backyard of a house. A SWAT Team captured him alive for the confession.

“Dzhokhar Tsarnaev initially told investigators that he and his brother decided after the Boston bombings that they would go to New York City to ‘party.’ However, subsequent questioning of Dzhokhar revealed that he and his brother decided spontaneously on Times Square as a target,” said Kelly.

What about the now (post 9/11) tallest building in New York City, the Empire State building as a target? Are these guys swift or is this just copy?

According to the police commissioner, the vehicle they carjacked did not have enough gas to make it to New York (strike one); so when they stopped at a service station, the carjacking victim was able to get away (strike two); and contacted police (strike three). Go know, they picked a Mercedes Benz to carjack that had an empty tank. What luck!

The FBI did not comment on Thursday on the case’s connection to New York. I wouldn’t if I were them. They have as much credibility (as their brethren CIA) as rocks. Federal officials confirm they spent about 16 hours questioning the teen before he was read his Miranda rights at which point he stopped talking.

City officials said they had to release information on this new development, as a serious reminder that New York remains a high target for terrorists. And so I guess that means that terrorists can strike anywhere at any time, so remain diligent, frightened, and giving up your civil rights. See, “Lockdown” is another word for Martial Law. So when cops or soldiers knock on our door and shout, “Get out or we’ll have to shoot you,” pay attention. Or as Kelly put it, so delicately . . .

“We have an obligation, we believe, to put that information out,” the police commissioner said. “The information we received that he was a lot more lucid, and gave much more detailed information in the second questioning period.” Well, the drugs probably had worn off.

“They had built these additional explosives, and we know that they had the capacity to carry out the attacks,” the mayor said. “If god forbid they had arrived in New York City and gone to Times Square, one thing’s for sure, they would have seen an enormous police presence.” Meaning there’d be a huge bill for police overtime, including rent-a-cops, mercenaries with military or police experience, working on an hourly or daily basis, no benefits included.

Kelly said Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was photographed in Times Square with friends on or around April 18, 2012, and returned to the city in November.

The commissioner says it is unknown if the visits were related in any way to the post-Boston terror plot. And we will never know, so what is the point of posing the question, Ray?

Meanwhile, the father of the two suspects said he hopes to leave Russia soon for the United States. I hope so, too. I’m tired of hearing that he’s leaving, and beginning to believe we’ll never see him. I can’t blame him.

His wife says she’s not sure if she will go with him because she’s worried about a shoplifting charge she faces here in the U.S. from last summer. That’s a $1,624 bill plus two counts of wanton damage. And she doesn’t know if she’ll have enough clothes for the trip. Well, danger seems to run in the family.

U.S. officials say Dzhokhar Tsarnaev acknowledged his role in the bombing and said his older brother recruited him for the attack. Well, the latter is dead so there’s no disagreement with that.

He also said they were angry about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the killing of Muslims. So was the car-bomber before him, and the shoe bomber before Faisal. And the underwear bomber that was after him. Do we see a pattern here? Are the FBI and CIA repeating themselves? Making more enemies not friends, which actually increases the danger to U.S. citizens at home and abroad?

Also, the U.S. is also looking into whether it botched surveillance of Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Aha, here it comes!

The CIA actually named him to a terrorist database 18 months ago, after Russia raised concerns he had become radicalized.

The FBI had earlier investigated Tsarnaev and found no ties to organized terrorism groups. Well, if the CIA had shared the information earlier with the FBI they might have been on the same page and stopped the op, that is, if that was really the point. Or was it meant to slip through the cracks and go BOOM, BOOM?

The bombings at the Boston Marathon left three people dead and more than 200 others wounded. It also left millions of Americans with the fear, which Nanny Bloomberg and Commissioner Kelly were trying to heighten, that a random terror bombing like this could happen in their town, city, airport, Christmas flight, or anywhere, literally at any time. Thanks for the reassurance guys. We Americans who are awake don’t know what we would do without you. Probably sleep better at night.

And, if you can stand it, watch the mayor’s full press briefing here.

  1. Tony Vodvarka

A fairly identical photo match between the double amputee who was trotted back and forth twice between the bomb scene and the end of the block in a wheelchair (having had a moulage prosthesis that was beginning to slip off adjusted on the first pass past the cameras) and an Afghan veteran who lost both legs in action a couple of years before kind of makes the official narrative a bit dubious, to say the least.

  2. Re Tony Vodvarka: excellent observation Tony. That pretty much ends that point.
    Regards,
    Jerry.
