Tax havens: Minority heaven, majority hell

An old story well known to a few has been brought a new life for many with revelations of the rich stashing their wealth in tax havens that cost the rest of us trillions in their unpaid denial of social bills and national responsibilities. A whistle blower-leaked tale about a Panamanian firm handling accounts for some of the global rich cheats and scammers is being carefully screened by mind managers and consciousness controllers before revealing names, but ultimately the public will be better informed about still another way that the rich rule by their profit and the rest pay for it through our loss. Vote as the class you are, not the race you aren’t

As the incumbent occupier of subsidized housing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue works on his legacy by fending off mad dogs of the neo-zio-con right and still bringing us closer to provoking war with Russia, a seemingly eternal presidential race for the next tenant continues while the nation passes through a critical period of confusion, disinformation and social-economic disorder. All this is part of the divide and rule politics to reinforce the weakening foundation of a political economic structure that threatens a global as well as national population if it ever collapses. Demublicans vs. Republicrats: The neo-lib-con job

We started 2016 by ending 2015 with a holiday shopping frenzy falling short of what the private profiteers needed but the public losers really didn’t, foreign policy moves to more war that the military industrial profiteers need but we don’t, and the end of the first phase of a presidential campaign that like shopping and war profits the few at cost to the many, which is hardly what we need. So what else is new? Continue reading

Pro-capitalist climate problem needs anti-capitalist solution

The Paris meeting of national officials united to save capitalism by rebranding climate change was challenged by outside demonstrators from all over the world calling for system change. The people were way ahead of their governments. Whether called revolutionary by supporters or disastrous by opponents, what should rightly be called COP-OUT 21 came to a final agreement that means business as usual. Private profits continue to come before any consideration of public loss and that is the root of the problem for humanity. Continue reading

Who started this ‘terrorist’ war? When?

After the latest tragedy in Paris, the outpouring of heartfelt sympathy from ordinary human beings and cynical posturing from political leadership, it is time for people to stop, think and take democratic action before it gets much worse. And in the short run it will get worse. Continue reading

‘Even war has rules,’ said Doctors Without Borders head Dr. Joanne Liu

That’s the problem, the acceptance of such degeneracy as representing something called civilization. How about rules of rape? Rules of child molesting? Or worst of all for some people, rules of animal cruelty? Continue reading

Israel and our discontents: Anti-philo pseudo-Semitism

Once again, an explosion of violence in Israel, which always means far more Palestinians than Israelis winding up dead, while U.S. politicians and media act as though tragedy only strikes the Israelis. The entire Middle East is being torn apart by warfare and all of it is related, directly or not, to the colonial establishment of the Jewish European state in the middle of a predominantly Arab and Muslim area. Most of the world knows this but in the USA it is treated as top secret, not acknowledged at all or claimed a giant lie dedicated to destroying an entire people. Continue reading

America’s tops in pops: Trump and the other chumps

The question avoided by all critics of the outrageous, outspoken, idiotic, anti-Christ, pro-Hitler, racist, misogynist billionaire who has equally antagonized the corporate Republican-conservative, corporate Democratic-liberal and (gag-barf-choke) corporate progressive establishments: Why is this cynical asshole candidate for president who loves Israel different from all the other cynical asshole candidates for president who love Israel? Continue reading

A fair and balanced look at Ann Coulter’s ‘Adios America’

One enjoyable thing about reading “Adios America” is encountering regular references to “elites” and the “Third World.” Although Coulter lacks a thoroughgoing class analysis, she at least sees that immigration policy is as much in the interest of the one-percent as any other, a point that tends to be lost on “progressives” and what passes for a left in the United States. Continue reading

Social media, consciousness control & 9/11

As 9/11 commemorations of the historic attacks took place alongside newer assaults on collective awareness by our mind managers, we need to understand that the menaces we are propagandized to see originating from evil outsiders are usually provoked and prolonged by Western governments, most especially the USA and Israel. Unfortunately, the false picture of the world that we get doesn’t only come from major media but also from what we call social media as well. Continue reading

Gentrification & immigration: Market forces of profit & loss

The return to economic fundamentalism and libertarian anti-socialism has meant great progress for many and enormous regression for most. That is textbook free market unregulated capitalism, though a post war move to government investment in some aspects of life not producing private profit gave a social democratic appearance of change for a minority when there really was substantially none for the majority. Continue reading

Assholes, a billionaire, and a socialist: Actual choice, at last?

In a political field of Republican assholes who represent billionaires and love Israel, Donald Trump stands out because he is an asshole who is a billionaire and loves Israel. He is also outspoken in ways unfamiliar to his more conventional opponents who must always be suck-ups to wealth and power, while he is the wealth and power they suck-up to, under normal circumstances. But the reaction to him by what passes for established intelligentsia tells us more about where we are as a nation than the near imbecile candidates themselves. Treating this campaign as something different because the field is overrun with assholes, only one of them seeming unique, means that the critics have somehow missed all campaigns and debates for the entire television age. Iran and humanity vs. the master race of chosen people

The performance of fading imperial power becomes more dangerous with each new crisis it faces, whether real, imagined or the logical outcome of its weakening intellectual and moral foundation which threatens the material structure we call civilization. Even while Greece is being treated with the near economic savagery previously reserved for developing and non-European countries, the attempted step into reality in recognizing Iran’s importance in the world, especially its dominant role in the Middle East, is accompanied by enough hypocritical gall and bloody arrogance to make ISIS look very reasonable by comparison. Continue reading

Flags: Powerful fabric

The photo of a racist murderer alongside a Confederate flag reignited the long smoldering emotional fire this symbol creates in America. Continue reading

Bipolar nation

As is too often the case, our nation’s leadership and much of its followership display patterns of thought and behavior that would have an individual sent to an institution for the extremely confused and dangerous. Continue reading

Hypocrites Without Borders

If the stand-up-for-freedom by paying to see a lousy film about Korea wasn’t enough to send you to the vomitorium, the murders in Paris should have done the job. The global 1% is moving us towards more bloody warfare as salvation for capital while growing sectors of the 99% wonder if we can afford to tolerate this madness much longer and hope to survive as a race. Continue reading

Hysterical materialism: Anything new? Maybe

The annual shopping frenzy representing profit for corporate America and loss for consumer nation is over. The joyful smiles of children at Santa’s visit were followed by the frowning faces of parents on his departure when the bills arrived. But that happens every year. Continue reading

Boots on the ground and bats in the belfry

The current global monster, Putin, so designated by corporate USA, is a heroic figure to much of the world. Continue reading

The great unhinging

Summers uses jargon familiar to those who make financial policy, teach at Harvard, and are in process of destroying more of the earth and its people for short-term private profits that guarantee long-term public loss. Continue reading

Decapitation American style

America’s anti-humanism can cause shock among hyenas, vultures and other creatures that feed on death in accordance with rather than opposition to nature. But as the empire sinks more deeply into the political economic sewage of its own creation, its weaponized psyche grows more malevolent and the behavior pattern more dangerous. The public has to be nearly lobotomized to allow its leadership to perform at such odds with reality. That is almost the case. Continue reading

Sharing economy’s new success: Adopt a homeless person

Among the most incredible manifestations of the new sharing economy has been the wide acceptance of a program begun by social media activists that has American families adopting homeless humans instead of pets. While it has created some fear in the multi-billion dollar pet market place, it has also provoked the creation of new product lines for the formerly homeless now living in comfortable accommodations. More important, it has offered citizens a new opportunity to perform humanitarian deeds while really sharing their good fortune with those in need. Continue reading

It isn’t Ferguson; it’s the USA

Now that almost all mainstream political and media mind managers have responded, in horror, sympathy or skepticism, to the most recent—as this is written—police killing of an unarmed black man, it is time to consider radical action for social change as opposed to the usual reactionary individual reform. Continue reading

Disgrace x hypocrisy x murder x racism = U.S. government

For a shamefully bloody example of how little single issue identity politics can mean, check out the unity of supporters and opponents of same sex marriage, supporters and opponents of abortion, and supporters and opponents of every other divisive issue clouding the minds of a population kept from acting as a democratic majority, we need look no further than the disgrace of this government’s Congress voting to approve and finance the current Israeli slaughter in Gaza. Continue reading

For sale: Personal brands & commodity lives

Modern marketing changes language and machinery but not its material foundation, which existed long before the industrial age. An allegedly “new” economy of information technology—IT—is just an update with different jargon and tools but the profit and loss substance remain exactly what they’ve always been: great for some, nice for many, and terrible for the earth and most of its people. Continue reading

The warfare state of capital

The destruction of Iraq, which began under the conservatively emotional Bush regime, continues under the liberally placid Obama administration. There are differences in style when an intelligent landscaper replaces a slack jawed gardener but the plantation they serve differs only in the cosmetic facade it sells the public, not the diseased crop it produces. Continue reading

A culture falling apart as fast as the economy

Each day another culturally reduced group is stricken with abuse, panic, anger and driven to what seem fresh new demands for justice. Continue reading

Economic hate crime

“Any government with both the power and the will to remedy the major defects of the capitalist system would have the power and the will to abolish it altogether.” Continue reading

‘Believe only half of what you see and none of what you hear’

That advice in song (‘I Heard It Through The Grapevine’) from a great Motown artist of the 1960s (Marvin Gaye) was never more meaningful than at present, especially concerning the alleged crisis in the Ukraine. Continue reading

Private financing = private government? Really?

Outrage over the most recent decision of our Court of Supreme Profits is understandable if coming from people only recently introduced to the American market system of private control of everything, especially the electoral process. But those who’ve been tilting at this windmill for many years really need to stop and think: how can they go on trying to simply control and not end private financing of elections and still believe in an alleged public power they call democracy? Continue reading

Alleged problems, real solutions

There are more than 300 million people in the USA. Four-hundred ninety-two of them are billionaires. That represents roughly 16 millionths of 1%. In decimal form that’s .0000016, or as a fraction, 16 over 1 million. This is not the 1% the Occupy Movement imprinted on (some of) the national consciousness. Even an innumerate person can understand that represents a teeny, tiny, microscopic portion of our supposedly democratic, equal opportunity, propaganda spouting world’s most deadly military killing machine in history. Continue reading

Operation Enduring Stupidity

Official American policy regarding the Ukraine, Russia, Putin and democracy has left the realm of ignorance and can only be described as stupid. Even the pressure of running an empire and maintaining capitalism are not enough to excuse present behavior and actions, previously labeled by some as demented but presently, and more dangerous, no more or less than complete stupidity. Humanity is at the crossroads of the most serious economic and social crisis in modern history

Which is why what remains of a privileged population in the USA is being mobilized to support regime change in Syria, Thailand, Venezuela and the Ukraine, a health care marketplace in the USA, a zealous drive to destroy Iran and an equally fanatic attempt at declaring Russia a worse menace now than at the time of brain dead American anti-communism. Continue reading
